Welcome to the Educational Design Research Conference! This conference will highlight “Design Based Research in Education,” a socially responsible approach to research and development that Professor Thomas C. Reeves has promoted for many years. We look forward to seeing you at The University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia, USA on Friday and Saturday, March 26 – 27, 2010.
The conference will feature speakers from around the world including Australia, The Netherlands, South Africa, and the USA. One highlight of the conference will be a workshop on Friday afternoon, March 26, specifically designed to introduce the “nuts and bolts” of educational design research to graduate students and others who are new to the concept and methods of this innovative approach to educational research. This workshop will be conducted by Jan Herrington from Murdoch University in Australia, Susan McKenney from the University of Twente in The Netherlands, and Tom Reeves from The University of Georgia in the USA.
Friday evening will feature a welcome reception and poster session. On Saturday, the all day conference will include three keynote addresses, several paper presentations, and a special panel session. The conference will conclude on Saturday evening with a retirement dinner for Professor Reeves, including folk music, skits, and other fun. The costs of the conference and dinner are separate, but both have been kept to a minimum thanks to generous support from The University of Georgia’s College of Education, Department of Educational Psychology and Instructional Technology, the Learning, Design, and Technology Program, and the Learning and Performance Support Laboratory among others.
